Yes, and by construction rather than by promise. There is no account, no phone number, no OTP, and no server of ours anywhere. Your birth date, time and place, the people you save, your kundli and every reading built from it are created and kept on your phone. We never receive them, so we cannot read, search, sell or lose them. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected," because there is nothing for us to collect.
You never talk to anyone. There are no consultations, no calls, no chat, no per-minute billing and no wallet to recharge. That is the main way Muhura differs from most Vedic apps, which are marketplaces that sell you time with a person.
Your janam kundli and its reading are free. Your daily rashifal is free, every day. Your year at a glance is free, and so is the panchang for where you are. Guna milan readings for two people, and muhurta guidance for choosing a day, are optional one-time purchases, with an unlock if you want them all. There is no subscription and nothing to cancel.
Yes, completely. Every calculation and every reading happens on your device, so the app works on a plane, in a basement, or with the SIM removed. It makes no network call to us, because there is nothing on our side to call.
Sidereal, with the Lahiri ayanamsa, and the classical nine grahas only. There is no Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. Positions are computed on your device from precise astronomy and checked against independent sources, not looked up from a stored table, so a chart for an unusual date or a distant place is worked out properly rather than approximated.
Rahu and Ketu use classical madhya (mean) positions by default, and you can switch to spashta (true) if your tradition prefers it. Where jyotish traditions genuinely disagree, Muhura tells you which convention it used instead of hiding the choice.
It shows you the chart and refuses the verdict. Guna milan gives you the kootas and what each one weighs, so you can see how the reckoning works. Manglik is presented as a placement to understand, with its classical cancellations, rather than as a pronouncement about a marriage. Muhura describes; the decision is yours and stays yours.
No, and this is deliberate rather than an omission. Muhura prescribes no remedies, gemstones, yantras, poojas, rituals or donations, and sells none. It makes no claim to cure, fix, ward off or guarantee anything. A great deal of this market runs on selling a fix for a fear the reading just created, and Muhura is built not to do that.
Your full kundli, with grahas, bhavas, nakshatras and the varga charts. Your Vimshottari dasha periods, explained in plain language rather than left as a table of dates. A panchang for your own place, with tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana. Your year at a glance, showing the bhava your muntha runs through above your dasha seasons. Guna milan for two people. And muhurta guidance for which days carry a particular plan well.
Six: English, हिन्दी, বাংলা, தமிழ், తెలుగు and ગુજરાતી, each in its own script. They are not machine-translated from English. Each was written by someone reading in that language, using the tradition's own vocabulary, and reviewed by a second reader of that language.
Reflection. Muhura will name a period as demanding, because a jyotish app that only ever says pleasant things is not telling you what the chart says. But it names what a period asks of you and leaves the decision with you. It does not tell you what will happen, it does not pass judgement on a person, and it treats fear as something to defuse rather than something to sell into.
Muhura is out now on Google Play. The iPhone version is on its way to the App Store.
