Today's tithi is Ekadashi, in the Krishna paksha, the waning half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Shravana nakshatra, pada 4. The vara is Shukravara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Siddha yoga and Bava karana.
Shravana is the twenty second nakshatra, from 10°00' to 23°20' of Makara (Capricorn), ruled by the Moon, and its name means hearing.
Its marker is Altair, a bright white star flanked by two fainter ones in a short straight line, one of the three points of the summer triangle and easy to find. The tradition also reads that line of three as the three strides of Vishnu, who is the deity of the nakshatra.
An ear is the symbol, and listening is the whole subject: learning by hearing rather than by doing, the transmission of knowledge through speech, and the older idea that some things can only be received rather than taken. The gana is Deva (divine) and the classical activity class is Chara, movable.
It is a good nakshatra for the conversation you should be having rather than the one you had planned. Listening properly costs attention and it costs the comfort of already knowing, which is the trade the tradition is describing. Whether to make it is your call, as it always is.
