Today's tithi is Shashthi, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Ashwini nakshatra, pada 1. The vara is Shukravara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Shubha yoga and Kaulava karana.
Shubha is the twenty third of the 27 nithya yogas, and the word means bright, agreeable or well omened in the general sense the tradition uses for anything favourable.
It is one of the broad, mild names in the list rather than one of the vivid ones, and the classical associations are correspondingly wide: ceremonies, gatherings, beginnings of the ordinary kind, and work you would be happy to be seen doing.
The yoga limb is derived from the summed sidereal longitudes of the Sun and the Moon, which means it depends on where both bodies are rather than on the distance between them. That is what distinguishes it from the tithi, and it is why a bright fortnight day and a dark fortnight day can carry exactly the same yoga.
Nothing here forecasts a good day, and the tradition does not claim to. What it offers is a shape that suits ordinary constructive work, and ordinary constructive work is most of what a life is made of.
