Today's tithi is Dashami, in the Krishna paksha, the waning half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Uttara Phalguni nakshatra, pada 4. The vara is Guruvara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Priti yoga and Vanija karana.
Priti is the second of the 27 nithya yogas, and its name is the ordinary Sanskrit word for affection, pleasure and the warmth between people who are glad of each other.
Each yoga covers 13°20' of the sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, so it moves in the same direction as the tithi but slightly faster, which is why the two limbs slide against each other through a month rather than staying in step.
Priti is one of the yogas the classical handbooks describe most warmly, and the traditional associations are social rather than practical: reconciliation, hospitality, anything begun in company, and the kind of work that goes better when the people doing it like each other.
There is no claim here about how a day will turn out. What the tradition offers is a suggestion about what fits, and if there is a conversation you have been meaning to have with somebody you are fond of, this is the classical slot for it.
