Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra
Purva Bhadrapada is the twenty fifth nakshatra, from 20°00' of Kumbha (Aquarius) to 3°20' of Meena (Pisces), ruled by Jupiter, and it is the first half of a pair named for a pair of legs.
Its stars are two corners of the great square of Pegasus, a large and obvious rectangle in the autumn sky, and Uttara Bhadrapada holds the other two. The symbol is usually given as the front of a funeral cot or as a two faced figure, and the tradition does not soften either image.
The deity is Aja Ekapada, the one footed goat, an old and strange figure connected with fire and with rising upward. The gana is Manushya (human) and the classical activity class is Ugra, fierce. What the readings build from this is intensity turned toward something beyond ordinary comfort: austerity, extremes, and the willingness to look at what most people look away from.
