Today's tithi is Purnima, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Shatabhisha nakshatra, pada 1. The vara is Shukravara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Atiganda yoga and Bava karana.

What is Atiganda yoga?

Atiganda is the sixth of the 27 nithya yogas, and its name means a great knot or obstruction, which puts it among the nine yogas the classical scheme marks for care.

Ganda is a knot, a swelling, a place where something has bunched up and will not run smooth, and ati intensifies it. The tradition is describing friction rather than misfortune: an obstruction is something in the way, and things in the way can be worked around, untied or accepted.

The handbooks keep this yoga away from launches and away from anything that has to go smoothly the first time. What they leave available is a great deal: untangling, negotiating, redoing something that came out wrong, and the patient work of finding out where the knot actually is.

The honest frame is cost. A day described as knotted is a day when the same task takes more attempts, and the reasonable question is whether the task can wait or whether the delay costs more than the friction. That judgement is yours, and the yoga is only telling you the price.
