Today's tithi is Dwitiya, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Shatabhisha nakshatra, pada 2. The vara is Somavara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Parigha yoga and Balava karana.
Parigha is the nineteenth of the 27 nithya yogas, named for the iron bar that bolts a gate shut, and it is one of the nine the classical scheme marks for care.
A parigha is a specific object: the beam laid across a door from the inside. It is not a wall and it is not a trap. It is a deliberate obstruction, put there by somebody, and it can be lifted by somebody. The tradition's image is a delay with a reason behind it.
The handbooks keep this yoga away from beginnings and from anything that has to move quickly. What sits well here is finding out why the door is barred: reviewing a decision that is not progressing, checking the assumptions behind a plan, and dealing with whatever is actually blocking a thing rather than pushing harder on it.
The cost is patience and the gain is understanding. A day when everything meets resistance is genuinely tiring, and it is also the day the reason for the resistance is easiest to see. Whether to spend it looking is your call.
