Pushya nakshatra
Pushya is the eighth nakshatra, from 3°20' to 16°40' of Karka (Cancer), ruled by Saturn, and the classical tradition treats it as the most reliable of the 27 for undertakings.
It is a small, faint group in the middle of Cancer, near the hazy patch of the Beehive cluster, and it takes a dark sky to see properly. The name means nourished or flourishing, and the symbol most often given is a cow's udder, an image of steady supply rather than abundance.
The deity is Brihaspati, the teacher of the devas, which pairs the nakshatra with counsel and with knowledge passed on carefully. The gana is Deva (divine) and the classical activity class is Kshipra, swift. Its reputation in the traditional handbooks is unusually consistent, and one longstanding exception is worth knowing: it is the one nakshatra classically held back from marriage undertakings.
A plain reading is sustenance rather than excitement. This is the nakshatra for the thing that will feed you steadily, which is rarely the same as the thing that will thrill you, and the tradition is quite clear about which it is recommending.
