Today's tithi is Shashthi, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Uttara Ashadha nakshatra, pada 2. The vara is Ravivara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Ganda yoga and Kaulava karana.
Ganda is the tenth of the 27 nithya yogas, and its name means a knot or a swelling, the same word behind the gandanta junctions in the zodiac.
It belongs to the nine yogas the classical scheme keeps for care rather than for beginnings, and it is the plainer relative of Atiganda, the sixth. A knot in the tradition's vocabulary is a place where two things meet and neither passes cleanly, which is why the same word marks the junctions between certain nakshatras.
What the handbooks put here is untying rather than launching: sorting out a tangle, dealing with the thing that has been quietly complicating everything else, and any work where the first job is finding out why it is stuck.
That is a description of effort, not of outcome. A knotted day costs more attempts and it does not decide anything about you. If the tangle has been sitting there for a while, the argument for spending a day on it gets stronger the longer it sits, and that calculation is yours to make.
