Uttara Ashadha nakshatra
Uttara Ashadha is the twenty first nakshatra, from 26°40' of Dhanu (Sagittarius) to 10°00' of Makara (Capricorn), ruled by the Sun, and it is the later half of the undefeated pair.
Its stars sit at the top of the teapot shape in Sagittarius, on the boundary where the Archer gives way to the Sea Goat. The symbol is usually given as an elephant's tusk or the planks of a bed, both images of something solid that stays where it is put.
The deities are the Vishvedevas, the collective of all the gods, which is a way of saying that this nakshatra belongs to no single power and answers to the whole. The gana is Manushya (human) and the classical activity class is Dhruva, fixed, the group kept for undertakings intended to last.
Where Purva Ashadha is conviction before the proof, this one is the victory that stays won because the work behind it was done properly. It is one of the tradition's strongest slots for beginnings of the permanent kind, and permanence is described as expensive rather than lucky.
