Today's tithi is Dwadashi, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Uttara Ashadha nakshatra, pada 2. The vara is Mangalavara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Ayushman yoga and Balava karana.

What is Ayushman yoga?

Ayushman is the third of the 27 nithya yogas, and its name means possessed of long life, which is where all of its traditional associations begin.

Ayus is lifespan, and the yoga's classical territory is anything to do with vitality and duration: health kept up rather than repaired, habits started with the intention of keeping them, and undertakings whose value depends on still existing in ten years.

Like the other twenty six, it is measured from the combined longitudes of the Sun and Moon in steps of 13°20'. Because that sum grows a little faster than the Moon alone, a yoga occasionally changes twice inside one calendar day, and the panchang labels the day by whichever was running at sunrise.

The plain use is a horizon check. Deciding whether something is worth continuing is a different question from whether it is going well today, and this is the yoga the tradition attached to the first question.
