Today's tithi is Navami, in the Shukla paksha, the waxing half of the lunar month. The Moon moves through Anuradha nakshatra, pada 4. The vara is Shukravara, and the panchang's remaining limbs are Vaidhriti yoga and Balava karana.

What is Vaidhriti yoga?

Vaidhriti is the twenty seventh and last of the nithya yogas, its name meaning held apart or pulled in two directions, and the classical scheme places it among the nine that ask for care.

The word is built from the root that gives Dhriti, the eighth yoga, meaning to hold, with a prefix that turns holding into holding apart. Where Dhriti is a firm grip on one thing, Vaidhriti is a grip on two things that are moving away from each other. Like Vyatipata it also names a specific alignment in Indian astronomy.

The traditional handling keeps it away from beginnings and from anything requiring a single clear direction. What remains is the work of divided attention itself: seeing where two commitments actually conflict, deciding what gets less of you, and admitting that both cannot have everything.

That is uncomfortable and it is also the only way a genuine conflict gets resolved. Closing the cycle of twenty seven on a yoga about being pulled two ways is a fair description of how most months end, and what you choose to put down is entirely your decision.
